The Unofficial Official Fish Hooks Blog!

This is the place for art and antics brought to you by the folks that work on FISH HOOKS!

Evolution of a fish… (Let’s get this party started part 2)

As was said in the earlier post, the idea for “Fish Hooks” evolved, and the “band” angle was dropped in favor of a more situational comedy approach. Here is some artwork from that evolution- think of it as the missing link between “Fish Hooks” the band to the show we all know and love today. Check it out!

This was the newer lineup! Notice how Milo and Oscar eventually swapped bodies, but Bea didn’t really change!

More side characters…Milo was designed to really STAND OUT visually, compared to the drab side characters that were initially in that world.

…and this was what their world could have looked like!

So that concludes our look into “Fish Hooks” past and a look into a future that could have been! Follow this page for more exclusive artwork and antics from the “Fish Hooks” crew! Woohoo!!

Let’s get this party started!

Hello and welcome to The Unofficial Fish Hooks Fan Site! You guys are in for a treat because here you’ll get a glimpse into the inner workings of the show from the ARTISTS and WRITERS THEMSELVES!

Since this is our first blog post, we’re gonna set it off with some exclusive never before seen artwork that not even the people who work on the show have seen!! How did “Fish Hooks” start you may ask? Well strap on your SCUBA gear because we’re going to dive deep into “Fish Hooks” history!

So, ^what you see above^ is the cast of “Fish Hooks” as they currently appear on TV. But the show didn’t start out that way! According to Noah Z. Jones, creator of the show, “Originally ‘Fish Hooks’ was about a punk rock band of fish called “The Fish Hooks”.” Basically, it was about this group of scrappy punk fish and their struggle to make it to the top of Rock N’ Roll Immortality.
^This was the original design for Milo. He was the leader of the group and the one who always had a zany scheme to get the group’s next big gig!
^This is Ichabod, aka “Icky”. He’s kind of like Animal from “the Muppets”- a wild and crazy troublemaker!
^This is Rooney! Kind of the jerk of the group who thinks he should be leader.
This is Gumbo- the cool guy, and the one the ladies are always after.
And this is Wanda, the super talented and streetwise one.
And finally this is Uncle Sal- the manager. He transforms his old ice cream truck into the band’s tour bus and lives vicariously through the kids.
Crazy, huh?
Eventually, ideas evolve to meet the needs of the studio (there were a lot of band ideas at the time), so the “band” aspect of “Fish Hooks” was dropped in favor of a more situation comedy approach. We’ll post more in the days to come!
